Snowflake Software is acquired by Cirium
Snowflake Software has signed an agreement to become part of Cirium, the expanding aviation analytics group in a move which will be a big win for the industry as we move towards building the 360-degree view of a flight.
Air travel is growing faster than ever before. However, aviation data is hard to access and rarely exchanged. Valuable information is locked in many legacy silo systems spread over 100s of data providers who all manage data differently. This prevents informed decisions and constrains the innovation needed to build next generation solutions supporting the growing aviation demand.
Snowflake Software’s Laminar Data is the 1st commercial information management platform dedicated to fusing, cleaning and sharing the world’s aviation data. Laminar Data seamlessly aggregates flight, weather and aeronautical data from multiple sources and makes it accessible in real time. This enables all aviation stakeholders to conveniently access the same operational picture.
Laminar Data enables ANSPs and their partners to accelerate their implementation of key areas of the ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrades (ASBU). The platform directly addresses globally interoperable systems and data, supporting Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE). Laminar Data makes aviation data accessible and easy to use, enabling collaborative decision making (CDM) across multiple stakeholders.
Additionally, through our Laminar Data Flight Object Manager (FOM – an advanced flight information management solution) we enable the improvement of ground-ground interoperability between operational ATM stakeholders. Laminar Data FOM facilitates the continuous exchange of consistent gate-to-gate flight information. Stakeholders can manage an aircraft at all stages of its journey to support enhanced collaborative cross-border operations.
At Snowflake Software, we have seen how the benefits of exchanging data in an open and collaborative environment can be realised by enterprise organisations outside of the traditional aviation stakeholders such as ANSPs, Airports and Airlines. Whether you’re a software/systems provider, industry body or innovation department at a large organisation – It is our goal to relieve you of the challenges of accessing and managing the data that you need.
Did you know that up to 80% of a typical projects resource can be spent just on sourcing and managing the information that you need. We want to help you refocus those resources by providing all of the data that you need from one platform, so that you can focus on the highest priority, your customer.
Drones and UTM
Aviation is changing, it is no longer just commercial or private aircraft using the global airspace. PwC predicts that the value of the drone industry by 2020 will be $127 billion. FAA also estimates that over 7 million consumer and commercial Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will be shipped in the US over the same time period. This unpreceded expansion of Airspace users creates many opportunities, however, ensuring safety is paramount. Finding a safe approach to drones flying with consideration of restricted airspace is therefore critical.
To achieve this, some of the most innovative companies from the industry are building Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) platforms. UTM platforms help manage the integration of drones into the airspace by bringing together key airspace related datasets. Those aviation-specific data-sets include Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) and Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs).
Through our award-winning Laminar Data Hub platform, we work with leading organisations across the industry to deliver a single source of global, spatially-enabled, filtered and easy-to-use NOTAMs for the drone industry. Our goal is to ensure that drone pilots have access to the relevant NOTAM and restriction data required in order to safely integrate into the global airspace.
When you’re building an application or system, whether it be for use in an operations centre or on a publically available app-store, ensuring that you have the right information can often be a challenge. There are many data providers around the world who all provide information in a different way and often in inconsistent legacy formats.
At Snowflake Software we want to empower you to build the next generation of game-changing applications by centralising all of the data that you need on one platform, whether thats a public or private cloud. Get in touch with us and find out how we can accelerate your time to market.
