SOARIZON by Thales access NOTAMs through Laminar Data Hub
Snowflake Software is thrilled to announce that we are working with SOARIZON® by Thales, as a provider of machine-readable, spatially enriched NOTAM data. SOARIZON is the complete drone management platform that helps users plan, fly and track safe and compliant drone missions anywhere in the world. By combining this capability with the easily accessible aviation data available through our Laminar Data Hub, this ongoing collaboration will enable the integration of drones into the global airspace.
NOTAMs are a crucial part of planning drone missions. Drone pilots use the same airspace as all other aircraft and so need to be aware of any potential restrictions or warnings happening within that airspace. Users of SOARIZON can now plan and operate with increased situational awareness and a much better understanding of how a NOTAM could affect their drone mission. NOTAMs are traditionally available in a text-heavy format which was invented more than 60 years ago and was designed to be human-readable. By parsing that text and spatially enriching the data through Laminar Data Hub, we’re able to make this valuable dataset machine-readable and much easier to interpret. The images below demonstrate the visualisation of a NOTAM before and after the new functionality was introduced on SOARIZON.
The image on the left-hand side of the above comparison shows a NOTAM which is only displayed as a circle (using the point and radius). The “after” image shows how the same NOTAM is represented more accurately through Laminar Data Hub and now through SOARIZON®, unlocking a large area that would otherwise have blocked drone flight.
SOARIZON combines best in class mapping capabilities, full risk assessment tools and NOTAMS and airspace data to make it easy to manage your drone operations, so you can focus on growing your business.
Alex Reading, Business Development Manager at Snowflake Software said “We are very excited to be working with such an innovative, forward-thinking company who are looking to drive the Drone Management and UTM industry forward. It’s great to be partnered with the team at SOARIZON who share our goal of ensuring that drone pilots have access to the relevant NOTAM and restriction data required in order to safely integrate into the global airspace.”
Daniel White, Lead Developer at SOARIZON said “We are very happy to be working with Snowflake Software, whose cutting-edge NOTAM and aviation data sets give SOARIZON customers a rich and accurate mission planning experience. Working with the team at Snowflake Software has been positive and collaborative as both innovative teams work together to build a roadmap for future development.”
Both Snowflake Software and SOARIZON® will be attending the Amsterdam Drone Week on 4th-6th December.
